I love you
I could say it over and over and still never have said it enough
I love your face and your voice and the way you talk to me
I love your hands and when you hold me
I give you all of me
I love your bones, your blood, your body made of bones and blood and skin
I love the things you say to me
I love you
I love you
I could say it over and over and still never have said it enough
I love your kisses and your euphemisms for various things
I love your arms and when you hug me
I give you all of me
I love your teeth, your smile, your laugh that’s made of teeth and smiles and fun
I love the way you listen to me
I love you
I love you
I could say it over and over and still never have said it enough times to get across the message of how much
I love you.

Hearts Were Broken

September 15, 2011

What was said when I walked through the door?

Never again to pace your floor

And if I were given a second chance,

Would your heart, again, begin to dance?

Nothing borrowed,

Nothing gained

Hearts were broken

Are they still in pain?

With no regrets, at last I say

For what did my life convey?

On the day I died, what did you do?

I only wish it wasn’t true.

But rest assured, I rest in peace

My heart I gave, as one solid piece

Audaciously, I end my time

Always knowing that you were mine.

“Rise”

September 10, 2011

‘Twas a day like any other
That this country’s eyes have seen,
Till one terrifying moment
When the world echoed our screams.

Yet at first we saw the daylight
As another day of work,
Unaware the coming midnight
Could bring us such tears, such hurt.

Oh, the wives that froze and trembled
As the phone fell to the floor—
Oh the sons, they would remember,
For they died to fight our war.

To this nation’s fearless masses,
To the heroes, bold and brave,
To the ones who crawled through ashes,
We remember what you gave.

Though the smoke has long been settled,
It still stings our eyes today.
So rise, carry high your mettle
And God bless the USA!

AN: I wrote this for a 9-11 contest my township was having, and it didn’t win. So I thought I’d post it here instead, seeing as I’ve heartlessly ignored y’all for a long time =(

Attention

September 6, 2011

Don’t you give me that look
The look that says there’s something wrong with me
There’s something wrong with the way I act
I’ll have you know that, as a matter of fact,
There’s nothing wrong with me

Don’t you ask me what that was
As though it’s abnormal to perform such actions
To feel unsafe when I don’t
I’ll have you know that, as a matter of fact,
It’s all about protection

Does it offend you when I turn back
To fix what I messed up?
Does it make you want to turn on your heel
And walk out of the room?
Do you hate the way I think,
How I can’t help but to count
When I travel through the house,
Up the stairs and then back down?
I’ll have you know it all makes sense
And you would do it too
If you were in my shoes
Right foot, left foot, right foot,
Don’t lose track
Don’t forget
Oh, my God, that touched my back
I have to fix what has been mixed
Can’t have a hair out of line
Don’t lose track
Don’t forget
Get it tight– don’t give it slack
I must make sure all stays in place
Can’t have a hair out of line

Don’t give me that look
The look that says something inside my head
Is working differently than others’
I’ll have you know that, as a matter of fact,
Nothing
Is
Wrong
When
Everything
Is
In
Its
Place
And
Don’t
Forget
The
Magic
Number
Don’t
Forget
To
Breathe
Evenly
Don’t
Forget
To

Why are you looking at me?
